Description

In this fun & playful session I’ll take you on a journey from HTTP/1.1 to HTTP/2 enjoying the sights & delights of its new features along the way. With features like multiplexing, yesterdays best practices are now tomorrow’s anti-patterns - so what does this mean your app or API? HTTP/2 is changing the game for performance & it’s all explained of course, using jelly snakes & raspberry twizzlers.

Abstract

HTTP/2 will have huge impacts on the way the web works for (potentially) decades to come. This talk aims to educate and empower attendees on the features that are here and the changes to come. I explore the best and worst practices of the way the web worked and how HTTP/2 is changing the game for performance. Whether retrofitting an API or building a new app, engineers will need to speak HTTP/2 in the years to come. Attendees will benefit from having a cursory knowledge of how HTTP and existing best practices for performance optimisation but it is not a requirement to learn from this talk.
