Our first Keynote Speaker: Barry Warsaw

April 19, 2016 by Thomi Richards

It gives me great pleasure to announce our first keynote speaker for Kiwi PyCon 2016: Barry Warsaw.

Barry has been an active core Python developer since 1995. He acted as the Python release manager for both Python 2.6 and 3.0. In 2009 PEP401 immortalised his title within the Python community: FLUFL, or Friendly Language Uncle For Life. His contributions to the language and the community earned him the PSF’s Community Service Award in 2013, and he continues to be an active core developer to this day.

Barry is also the maintainer of GNU Mailman, the software that runs many email mailing lists around the world, not to mention countless other packages. He’s also a Debian Developer, Ubuntu Hacker, bass player, tai chi practitioner and one of the most talented developers I’ve had the pleasure of working with. I’m super excited to hear what Barry has to say. If you’d like to see Barry’s keynote, you need to book your Kiwi PyCon ticket now!
